July is a great time to enjoin summer holidays with families. While summers in Japan seem to be getting hotter each year, many unique events are keep happening in SHIBAURA HOUSE. There is no better way to really experience and try to understand a culture than to participate in a local summer festival in here. The memories of the food, games and traditions will stay with you always.

Improvisational Music On Moon Kitchen

Date: 1st/8th/22nd & 29th July

School is out in few weeks that means one thing--Summer is just around the corner, and it’s time to enjoin summer activities .SHIBAURA HOUSE is the place to spend time together. on July, we have hosted weekly event of Moon Kitchen for sharing food and joy. Instead of watching TV during the day, we prefer to dance in living space, speak English, eat healthy food and explore interests. There are many families brought their kids to meet each other in here. Probably, our summer camp is happening in SHIBAURA HOUSE already.

Swimming pool & Shiso juice are ready

What is the best fun activity for you in summer? Many children might prefer to swim. Summer is the perfect time to get a little wet and wild. Every year, we have prepared swimming pool for children to having fun with water and friends freely. 

There is no better way to prevent the summer heat than having glass of summer-flavored Shiso juice.  We’ve picked fresh Shiso leaves and mixed it with a little apple cider vinegar, ice, and sparkling water. This homemade, chemical-free summer juice is full with vitamins and nutrients. Every summer, Shiso juice is a popular favorite. 

SHIBAURA Summer festival

Date:26th & 27th July

Summer is vibrant seasons with street foods, traditional festivals and dancing in the streets. Especially, Shibaura house has co-host the Japanese summer festivals in years.

We invite Mitsuboshi-san to design the props of shooting and Pingpong cup game for children’s activities. Over 30 people came to our space and enjoyed the time together. Meanwhile,  we have received over 300 items all donated by local residents. After recycling and re-organizing all of the used goods, it became very popular at the free market. All of the income will be donated to the non-profit Moon Kitchen as meal budget for children.

Designed by a world-known architect Kazuyo Sejima from SANAA, SHIBAURA HOUSE welcomes architecture lovers all over the world throughout the year.

This month, a spontaneous architecture visit turned into a photo shooting session. As an architecture student/practitioner, Timo was traveling from Switzerland to Japan for his personal project researching industrial areas and infrastructure around Tokyo. After visiting our site, the 5th floor with the urban outlook caught his attention in creating an archive of a hundred of drawings from the trip. Located in the former warehouse district which is now under the new redevelopment, the scenery added layers to the portrait of cities.
