SHIBAURA HOUSE, it's a space with not only architectural features but also has variety of enriching activities.
Regular events
We host regular community activities twice a week. If you visit SHIBAURA HOUSE on Monday or Friday evenings,you are welcome to join our ‘Monday’s Kitchen’ and ‘Friday’s Kitchen’. Additionally, we organize activities with different themes with English learning, improvisational dance workshop, live concerts, and more before starting meals.
At the same time, we collaborate with local and interntional organizaitons, we also work with various local art institutions and independent artists in Japan and the friends come over the world.

▼ Community kitchen for children
What We Do
Every Monday, we open our space as a community kitchen for children called “Moon Kitchen”. (The title of the moon comes with Monday) If you reserve in advance, you can have a simple meal here. The daily meals are simple. We serve rice balls and miso soup. (sometimes curry!) As we are particular about what the children eat, all vegetables are organic, and try to avoid chemical seasoning. If you just want to spend time here, you don't have to reserve in advance. Usually, the children do whatever they want.
We occasionally offer some workshops related to art and language learning for the children. One of our staff who is a highly experienced dancer organized a dance workshop which the children can enjoy casually with other friends. It aims for children to learn physical communication and expression. These days some high school students organize an English teaching class themselves. We would like to motivate the children's interest to challenge new things throughout these workshops.
Backgrounds of this project
-Lack of the Third Place-
Children living in this area have some peculiar backgrounds. Though there are several places where the children can access after school such as libraries and after-school activities, the neighborhood is basically for business districts. It is hard to say that this area is an ideal environment for the children. Most of them choose to go to the tutoring school after school and rarely have free time at home. Considering their age, it is essential to have several connections to various activities and people. We do believe in the importance of sharing a table with someone.

It could be a place where you can practice your work. In the past, we invited a dancer and musician and organized a dance workshop for the children. Let me know if you are looking for the opportunity to express your ideas.

If you come SHIBAURA HOUSE on every Friday night between 6:00-8:00p.m, you can experience the different flavour of curry rice and a variety of dishes that we make. At the end of a week's work, you might need a place to release all of tiredness and stress, here is the place full of comfortable atmosphere.
As a new attempt to invite more clients, we will open our space from 4 pm to 8 pm every Friday! On a daily basis, we open 1F/2F as a community space during the daytime. All different kinds of people spend their time here, such as having lunch and doing their work. Most of them are daily customers who live and work in the neighborhood. You can take a break before the busy weekends. A simple dinner service will be available since one of our staff will make a special curry(sometimes other meals).* We hope that this project will promote cultural exchange beyond the field.
