ARCHITECTURE

SHIBAURA HOUSE was built in 2011. This unique and beautiful architecture is a space jointly conceived by Japanese well-known architect Kazuyo Sejima and SHIBAURA HOUSE7s CEO Masaru Ito. It combines a sense of integration with the surrounding residents and changes the lifestyle of the people who come here.
We prefer to focus on each small steps in the whole process of this building. It is a space which can offer infinite potential possibilities. The entire building is coverd by glass. It feels as if the outside world is flowing in, and the people working here constantly find their routines has to be stimulated to think that 'We must adapt 'in daily.
There are many young families in Shibaura area, we’re thinking of making SHIBAURA HOUSE as a place to communicate information and thoughts with each others. It’s important to have a visible and tangible space to let people understand what we are doing in here. Meanwhile, we want to let the chirdren to understand that here is possible to do creative things as they wishes.
SHIBAURA HOUSE is not an ordinary office,we would like to connect with local community, so lots of new things can be born from it. Architecture is only required to be perfect within a certain ‘frame’.This building allows different people to use in all kinds of ways and allows itself to be used in all those different ways. The world around us changing so much, so we are learning how to respond to the changes.
