Location: Fujihashi, Ome

Today, urban children rarely have the opportunity to experience the fun of farming. We create an entire process of rice from planting to harvesting which is a way  back to nature for all. In the third year, SHIBAURA HOUSE has brought 25 participants to Ome for experiencing the joys of rice planting. This year we planted three different flavours of rice(includes Mochikome, Kodaikome, and sasanishiki rice). There's nothing better than sharing a meal together after everyone have done hard working in the farmland. Enjoin observing children how play to the field in their own way.(Like swimming, catching tadpoles or fishing) Probably only when you experienced the process of planting rice, you might truly understand how precious each grain of rice is.

In the final episode of our series "(Re)Designing Connection," we delved into how personal connections foster communal ties, against the backdrop of Tokyo’s shifting neighborhood dynamics due to urbanization. Speakers examined the potential for bridging urban disconnects and inspiring a reimagined sense of neighbourhoods and beyond. Lastly, they revealed how we can extend these intimate connections to reinvigorate urban spaces and encourage global unity.
